HSM Solutions is looking for a mechanically inclined Tube Mill Operator to join our 3rd shift team (Friday-Sunday, 6PM-6AM) at the Hickory Metal plant. In this role, you'll be responsible for machine adjustments, tooling changes, quality checks, and basic welding/finishing tasks. You'll rotate between workstations, operate forklifts, and help keep production running smoothly. Must be comfortable using a tape measure (calipers/micrometers knowledge is a plus) and reading basic mechanical prints. Strong communication, teamwork, and basic math skills required. Responsibilities

What You Will Do:

  • Support the Mill Operator with machine adjustments, including deburr and de-dimple equipment. Team members rotate between workstations based on their experience and skill level, gaining exposure to different parts of the process as they learn.
  • Assist with quality checks, tooling changes, and machine setups — ideal for mechanically inclined individuals.
  • Learn entry-level welding and finishing processes such as TIG welding and spray painting.
  • Maintain the scarf and bead winding station with guidance from experienced team members.
  • Operate a forklift to move raw materials or finished products.
  • Perform process checks, basic rework, and complete required production paperwork.
  • Clear minor jams and support machine troubleshooting – you’ll receive ongoing support from experienced operators.
  • Help maintain production schedule and product flow on the floor.
  • Keep a safe and clean work environment in accordance with company safety standards.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • Must be comfortable using measuring tools such as tape measures (experience using calipers and micrometers a major plus)
  • Forklift experience is a plus but not required — willing to train.
  • Must be willing to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and stay organized on a busy floor.
  • Must be able to read and interpret basic mechanical prints — training support available.
  • Strong interest in mechanical tasks and hands-on work.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds (team lifting support provided as needed).
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
