As a Senior Accountant at HSM, you’ll do more than crunch numbers—you’ll help shape the financial backbone of our business. In this highly visible role, you’ll lead the charge in month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring every detail aligns with U.S. GAAP standards. You’ll also have the opportunity to influence how we work by enhancing policies, strengthening internal controls, and driving process improvements that make our Finance team smarter and more efficient.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Analyze accounting transactions, prepare account reconciliations, and post journal entries in accordance with month-end deadlines.
  • Prepare accounting reports and financial schedules for management, lenders, and external auditors.
  • Collect, develop, and present documentation requested by external auditors while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and address operational deficiencies as identified.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and enforcing financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Participate in and help lead the company’s external financial and lender audits.
  • Serve as liaison to various departments, explaining financial results and supporting forecast and budget preparation.
  • Maintain and monitor the company’s chart of accounts to ensure consistency across locations, divisions, plants, product lines, and customers.
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses, financial reports, and participate in special projects as needed.
  • Work efficiently to complete assigned tasks, analyze complex financial data, and effectively document and communicate findings.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field).

  • 3–5 years of accounting experience (staff or senior level); public accounting experience a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with JD Edwards, Planful, FinQuery, or Hubble a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial leaders.

  • CPA certification preferred, but not required.

  • Change management and projec management experience preferred, but not required.
