Overview

This position oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Establishes inspection protocols, defines sampling procedures, and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process.  Responsible for recommending changes in specifications of materials, parts, and products based on inspection results.  Assists in formulating and revising of QC policies and procedures.  Ensure that customer expectations are met in an efficient manner.

Responsibilities

 

    • Daily supervision of QC Techs to discuss quality issues, assist in the quarantining of non-conforming parts, and alert production, shipping, customer service, and management of quality problems as needed.
    • Create and maintain a database that lists product specific criteria (required dimension, density, labeling, etc.)
    • Analyze the data thoroughly to find the areas of growth.
    • Facilitate, document, and monitor continuous improvement plans.
    • Develop strategies to improve the production process.
    • Observe objectives to maximize the profitability of the plant.
    • Identify and complete training requirements to meet the equality standards and processes
    • Ensure the product goes through auditing and testing.
    • Ensure all customer requirements are met and review thoroughly the existing policies and standards.
    • Complete CARS and SCARS.
    • Investigate root causes and implement preventative measures for internal and external quality issues as needed.
    • Complete monthly COPQ calculations.
    • Review the plant’s process to ensure they align with the current policies.
    • Lead the scrap kaizen team to identify ways to reduce scrap, save money, and increase productivity.
    • Follow up with quality improvement tasks that arise out of the deviation log meetings.
    • Formulate timely reports and documentation to track progress.
    • Lead, participate and update documents for both internal and external audits.
    • Document internal audits and quality assurance activities.
    • Plan, conduct, and monitor testing, and inspect products to ensure its quality.
    • Complete customer required COA’s.
    • Review customer complaints and provide recommended corrections.
    • Analyze the data to find areas for improvement. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Possess knowledge of production processes, quality controls, safety, cost reductions, and other techniques for the effective manufacture and processing of goods.
  • Must be of an analytical mindset and be able to quickly assess large amounts of information and data.
  • Proven ability to work with cross functional teams and in a project management environment required.
  • Must have the ability to consider and evaluate the relationships between numerous factors.
  • Must possess all other qualities critical for success including leadership, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgment, and determination.
  • Aware of the principles and processes for providing customer service, including meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

 

Education/ Experience:

  • Associates Degree in technical field or High School diploma/general education degree (GED); and 5 years directly related experience and/or training to the essential duties and responsibilities above.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous work experience in a manufacturing setting, 2 years in a Quality Leadership or Supervisory Role

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean practices with application experience.
  • Ability to provide a balance of fairness coupled with accountability in supervisory style as it relates to personnel performance.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis processes and the ability to apply them to achieve results.
  • Strong understanding of robust Quality Management Systems, ISO compliancy and OSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the ability to find errors and correct them.
  • Some general knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, usage, repair, and maintenance.
