Overview

Operate either Tube Mill within the facility to manufacture steel tubes from coiled steel – make decisions on assignments, quality, and set-up operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees Tube Mill operators.
  • Sets up Mill to ensure customer specifications and quality standards are met.
    • Visual inspection for: weld, scratches or bent tubing.
  • Performs essential quality testing as required by customer.
    • Destructive Testing is done on each coil as it processes through the Mill.
    • Sizing is done on each coil as it processes through the Mill.
  • Records production and quality data on appropriate forms.
  • Assists Lead Personnel with new hire training.
  • Transfer inventory with TranCollector system.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance as needed.
  • Abide and ensure all safety regulations and policies are followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to perform this job.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required for consideration.
  • One year of prior work experience as a lead operator, should also include maintenance mechanics, or other relevant mechanical experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints.
  • Ability to effectively communicate quality issues to supervisor, lead and tool and die personnel.
  • Ability to effectively communicate mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to record quality and production information on records.
  • Associates will be required to utilize the “TranCollector” system to capture and record information into the JD Edwards system.  Transactions will include (but not be limited to) printing part identification labels, transferring material from one location to another, performing part lookups to determine  current on-hand inventory levels and locations, plus any other transactions determined to be necessary for daily inventory control.

Physical Demands:

While performing the  essential functions of this job the employee is required to stand for extended periods of time, stand and use hands to grasp, handle or feel. Employee may on occasion be required to speak, hear,  bend, stood, kneel, crouch, and walk on wet surfaces.  The employee must frequently lift, move, and/or drag/push more than 40 pounds.  Employee may also be requested to extended shift, work overtime, and /or weekends. Employee must be willing and able to abide by all safety policies.

 

Environment:

Duties are performed primarily at a manufacturing setting and may expose employee to laud noise levels, extreme temperatures, chemical and fumes, and moving mechanical parts. Work is completed in a non-climate-controlled plant environment and employee will have frequent interaction with managers and other employees. Standard hazards within a manufacturing plant where safety precautions and personal protective equipment must be maintained all the time.

Pay Range

USD $27.00 - USD $27.00 /Hr.
