Atlantic Automation Company is a global distributor of manufacturing equipment supporting the bedding, apparel, and furniture industries.  We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shipping & Receiving Specialist (with some stock room responsibilities) to be responsible for overseeing and managing all activities related to the shipping and receiving functions.  In the ideal candidate, we are looking for someone with demonstrated experience in managing all shipping and receiving operations, ensuring the timely and accurate handling of domestic and international shipments.  This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with transportation vendors and internal departments to meet delivery schedules. While the role includes some stock room responsibilities, the emphasis is on shipping, receiving, and logistics coordination.

Responsibilities

Shipping & Logistics Coordination:

  • Manage and execute all shipping operations, including domestic and international shipments.
  • Arrange and coordinate international shipments, ensuring compliance with all regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Verify product identity and prepare items for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and barcode attachment.
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading (BOLs), customs declarations, and commercial invoices.
  • Schedule and coordinate shipments with transportation companies, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery.
  • Communicate with transportation vendors to resolve any shipping issues or delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipped goods and prepare regular reports for management.


Receiving Operations:

  • Oversee the receiving process, ensuring all incoming goods are inspected, documented, and stored correctly.
  • Verify the accuracy of received shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Communicate with vendors and transportation companies to resolve any discrepancies in received goods.
  • Update inventory records and process material receipts in the JD Edwards (JDE) system.


Inventory Management (Stock Room):

  • Support the stock room by ensuring accurate inventory records and managing stock levels for shipping materials.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies related to shipping and receiving operations.
  • Organize and maintain the stock room, ensuring that all shipping materials are readily available.


Coordination and Communication:

  • Work closely with the Customer Service and Operations teams to ensure on-time deliveries and address any issues related to shipping and receiving.
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members involved in material handling and logistics.

Compliance and Safety: 

 

  • Follow all safety guidelines and report any injuries, unsafe conditions, or hazardous materials immediately.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with packaging, crating, and shipping large parts and products.
  • Build pallets and crates for heavier shipments.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and maintained at all times, actively participating in housekeeping requirements.
  • Follow proper safety guidelines, report injuries, unsafe conditions, and hazardous materials immediately.
  • Abide by HAZMAT and Customs and Border Patrol regulations regarding the transport and storage of chemicals and standard shipments.
  • Use forklifts and other material handling equipment to load and unload shipments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, inventory management, or related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in stock room, shipping, and receiving roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software, particularly JD Edwards (JDE).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions quickly.
  • Availability for overtime as needed based on production demands.

Starting from USD $18.00/Hr.
