Overview

Hybrid role performing various tasks primarily functioning as a material handler supporting operations, as well load, unload, and deliver products to customers using a tractor trailer while also in correctly loading and unloading trailers. Strong canidates can expect to spend 70% of their day supporting Materials and 30% driving in a support role.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to enter/exit tractor.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections of tractor and trailer on a safety checklist. Log any defects & alert manager of needed repairs.
  • Must be able to properly couple and uncouple trailers and raise/lower trailer landing gear.
  • Back trailers in and out of shipping/receiving docks.
  • Drive trailers to designated areas safely and appropriately.
  • Time management skills to guarantee on time delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and legible and complete all pertinent paperwork.
  • Assist shipping department with loading and unloading of trailers as needed.
  • Basic understanding of government rules & regulations surrounding operation of a CMV.
  • Maintain CDL in good standing.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper load securement of all freight.
  • Obtain & transport materials to designated areas.
  • Organize material in stock area in an orderly manner.
  • Assist with management of inventory and reporting of inventory levels.
  • Remove empty boxes or flats when material has been used.
  • Packaging of product where required.
  • Use forklift/pallet jack to move raw material and finished goods.
  • Perform daily checklist on forklift.
  • Load and unload materials.
  • Assist with ship confirming orders/receiving finished goods/raw materials.
  • Use scan guns and perform inventory cycle counts.

Qualifications

  • 2 years verifiable CDL experience is preferred but not required for consideration.
  • Must be able to drive a manual truck. 
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL and be able to pass all DOT requirements – (physical, drug test, road test, and a clean MVR.)
  • Must be able to perform simple math (i.e. – counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing).
  • Must have forklift experience.
  • Must be willing and able to abide by all safety policies.
  • Must be able to do heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret shipping/receiving/production documents.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow directions, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to work and drive in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work weekends, if needed although this is rare.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but unsupervised written or oral instructions.
  • Minimum of 6 months of previous work experience in a manufacturing setting preferred, but not required for consideration.
  • Assist in loading/unloading of products and materials when necessary.
  • Complete daily forklift inspection to include required paperwork (forklift certification is required – may obtain OTJ.)
  • Must be able to perform other duties as deemed by management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Perform 6S and housekeeping duties in the work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education/ Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); and 2 years experience after licensing or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Must have clear DMV record.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

 

  • Good command of the English Language with ability to read, write and comprehend information, reports instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one, or in small group situations to other team members of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed or oral instructions. This may include decision making, compiling information, and analyzing information and ability to problem solve.
  • Driver’s License-Class A (CDL) with doubles endorsement - (Must have a clear DMV Record.)
  • 10% Ability to travel. May require overnight stays away from home. This is a rare occurance.

Pay Range

USD $21.00 - USD $23.00 /Yr.
