Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Quality Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Director of Process Engineering and Quality, this pivotal role encompasses leading and overseeing all aspects of quality management within the plant environment, focusing on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes and procedures, quality management systems, and warranty analysis and improvement. The Senior Quality Manager will play a critical role in ensuring product quality meets or exceeds customer expectations and regulatory requirements, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining our status as a Tier One supplier to the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • APQP Leadership: Spearhead the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) efforts across all product lines, ensuring that all quality planning activities, including FMEA, control plans, and PPAP documentation, are effectively executed in accordance with customer requirements and timelines.
  • Quality Management Systems (QMS): Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System in compliance with IATF 16949 standards. Conduct regular QMS audits, identify areas for improvement, and lead the efforts to achieve and maintain certifications.
  • Plant Quality Oversight: Direct plant quality teams in the implementation of quality standards, procedures, and controls to meet or exceed customer expectations and reduce warranty claims. Ensure robust process controls are in place to prevent non-conformities.
  • Warranty Management: Analyze warranty data to identify trends and root causes of product failures. Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and customer service teams to implement corrective actions and reduce future warranty claims.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean, and other methodologies to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve efficiency across the manufacturing process.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the quality team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, manufacturing, engineering) and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers) to ensure quality requirements are clearly communicated and met throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products and processes are in compliance with automotive industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Other duties assigned by Manager. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality engineering within the automotive industry, with at least 2 years in a quality management role overseeing APQP processes and QMS in a Tier One manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plan methodologies, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Proven track record of leading quality improvements, reducing warranty costs, and implementing successful continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams towards achieving quality objectives.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external customers.
  • Certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt or similar is highly preferred.
